Forbidden Gardens of Katy, Texas. Terra Cotta Replica Chinese Soldiers. June 20, 2009
Here I sit (in the Texas sun) in front of the main pit. There are several thousand 1/3 scale fiberglass raplicas here and it is quite amazing to see.
A little seen view from behind the Emperor as he surveys his army. Since nobody was around I figured it was OK to scamper around the hillsides a bit for some different views.
The detail was amazingly individualistic and precise on each of the men.
Also on the site is a huge miniature Forbidden City, thankfully fully covered and in the shade!

Amazing!! I'm looking forward to following you on your trip ~ what an exciting idea.
Scope sent me by the way.
:-)
Ah, thanks Cora, and thanks ro Scope. I am heading NE but may just head more North as Scope and an artist, Dan Lacey, have both invited me to meet them. Scope has been an online blogging buddy for a while. I'll look for the occasional note from you hopefully, I am sure it will cheer my days on the road.

Always fun if you have time and resources to travel around the world and see places like Serengeti, Kilimanjaro, Ngorongoro, Zanzibar, Tsavo, Masai Mara and many more places.
Kilimanjaro - Yes, and it seems a long term dream is going to happen for me. I am lucky to have the resources and support, and to have the desire to live cheaply and close to the land so as to afford it. Actually for what most folks spend for a week at a resort I can stay on the road for a loooooong time!
