Reminded me of my visit to Sandia Peak outside of Albuquerque, NM. Though only a tad over 10,000 feet, it was the highest I have been outside of a plane. At the vista point and visitor center, I had to park in the lower lot and climb a stairway to the center, a distance of maybe 30 feet. I didn't understand why there was a bench and landing halfway up. Until I got there. The air is thin!
Yes, that little stroll up to the top of the peak at the continental divide was perhaps a quarter-mile, several hundred feet more in altitude. Whew, I took several short breaks and it gave me a headache. Alan
